The Love Mine Poem by Mark Dillon

The Love Mine

Rating: 4.6

I went into the love mine
searching for some gold.
Not the type that fools find
thats readily bought and sold,
but one that nurtures the heart,
the one to forever hold.

After searching long, I found a nugget
with a dazzle that's warm and lingers,
alas my full attention was not on the prize
and it slipped right through my fingers.

I found another along the way
that leechs from its holder.
And for all its shine and brilliance,
it's feel grew ever colder.

I droppped it from my grasp
before it drew all of my reserve
tried to save body and soul
from a pain I did not deserve.

So for now I go on mining,
hoping to find that glimmer
of the nugget I lost so long ago,
though my hopes are growing dimmer.
Maybe someday soon I'll find
a love to have and hold.
One that has a warm embrace
That lasts till we grow old.

Hey Mark this is great. But jusst remember, you will be wealthier, healthier, get to hold the remote and there is only one wee mess. Love and friendships both hold great meaning. THANK YOU
