The Journey - Poem by Kimberly Gathright

See the ebony eyes
gaze so lovingly
See my parents eyes
See them, see me

Touch the gentle hands
that hold so tenderly
Touch my parents hands
Touch them, touch me

Hear the beating hearts
drums of ancestry
hear my parents hearts
hear them, hear me

See, touch, hear
embark on the journey
once completed
Know them, now me

A realization of how we are, indeed, so very much of our parents' influence in a spiritual physical sense. A good poem, Kim!
