The Land That Haunts Me - Poem by Amanda harding

I want to leave this world behind
This home
This city
This land
This place that haunts my life
I want to be free
Free of troubles
Free of everything here
The depression always here
While I’m in this land
Stuck in the middle
Between heaven and hell
My angel on one side
This land on the other
Like a tug of war
My emotions torn
I see my angels hand reach out
I hear his voice call
Through the darkness and pain
Yet as I move to him
As my heart begins to give in
Darkness drags me back
Its suffocating me
As its claws rip my skin
Dragging back to the place
Deep within me
The place I want to escape
The land that devours me
