His mother tapped his crown
And said, 'Now, don't frown
And shiver so. Your tender leaves
Are falling down upon the ground,
And every little breeze that blows
Is making your ribs show! '
So the little tree tried
Not to be nervous before the show!
But he didn't know
Just what to do!
'I've never been the center
Of attention before, you know! '
Soon they all stood proudly.
And the crowds gasped loudly
At the show.
The crystal gleam of a lone sunbeam
Spotlighted him
In his coat of glorious colors!
Scarlett, this is very sweet. A simple image filled with love and colour. Are you familiar with 'The Education of Little Tree' - The Story of a Cherokee Boyhood by Forrest Carter? One of my favourite books of all time and I heartily recommend it. love, Allie xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
You fleck a mean picture, Red...Collossol imagework, and mellifluous structure throughout...A real bobby-fazzler, young gal! ''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''FJR
Lovely penning, Scarlett! Kind of reminds me of Dolly's song, 'Coat of Many Colors.' Family values sing strong and true, great job!
I love this 'show' of colors. Delightful Scarlett...........................Diane

Your beautiful poem reminds me that I noticed one of the most amazing leaf changes this past Fall was by a poison sumac tree (it pays to know your plant species!) . Leaves were red on top, bright yellow beneath, and/or still green.. Vivid. It leans out of a swamp right to the grassy edge of a soccer field of a nearby school. I hope no kiddies tried to collect them for class! Ouch! -chuck
