The Misfits Poem by Hazel Durham

The Misfits

Rating: 4.9

Our tears are just memories of our fears
Of mountains we’re unable to climb,
Like we’re drinking glasses of champagne
Without the cheers or the chime,

We stumble across this undulating land,
Never hearing the sound of the marching band
On parade day, instead we have fun on the golden strand,
With the invasion of light that fills the day,

We wish for the anonymity of the night,
To hide our differences that becomes our fight,
We change ideas that present us with the gift of light,
We dare to stay outside of life’s uncertainties,

As we are sure of our mirror image,
That illuminates our passion across this written page,
We suffer for unexplained exclusion,
Like the world closing it’s doors on our intrusion,

We met along this troubled, scary way,
Now life is like a rainbow curving across the sky every day,
Colours to brighten and pack our dreams
Into our collection of shells we chose along the seashore,

We have found our bountiful love that smiles from our very core,
The misfits are rare as they share a fragile humanity,
With a light that is so much more
Then even the sun’s rays embracing the earth so fine,

Warming our united souls
As together we shimmer and shine,

Stumbling across this undulating land, and memories of fear with joy still remain with life. Still love and smile comes within. Wonderful central theme of this poem makes this nice. Well drafted.

We met along this troubled, scary way, Now life is like a rainbow curving across the sky every day, Colours to brighten and pack our dreams Into our collection of shells we chose along the seashore, Yes, there are shining pearls inside the hard core of the oyster shells! We may not always find them, but once found, life becomes a rainbow reflecting iridescent colours! Lovely write... Hazel. My 10!

A lovely tale of two fragile people finding each other and their sad world becoming full of sunshine. Two who feel they are misfits fitting together so they are no longer misfits. The sad thing is we all feel like misfits at times and it is rare when we find a place to truly fit. We might spend our whole lives searching. Beautifully written and packed full of emotion.
