in the quiet hours of the morning.
the house is quiet.
I find myself in my own little universe.
half covered by the blanket.
it seems the world has stood still
enough to feel the earth spin.
I hold steady, feeling my breath come in
and out of me.
I am at peace. having a place to lay my head.
somewhere above my roof.
you dance and flicker like a star.
your body still at rest.
waiting to open your eyes and tell me
about the dream you had.
moments like these are rare.
different parts of the world. going to sleep
and waking up in sections.
most times I wake up. I cannot remember my dreams.
regardless of doubt. or what is in store
the rest of the day.
the witching hour now behind us.
while you lay there asleep.
bouncing from star to star.
I lay awake and stare at the ceiling.
waiting for you to wake up
just thankful to be in the moment.
