The One That I Love Poem by ANDREW BLAKEMORE

The One That I Love

Rating: 5.0

I bid her farewell as she waves from the doorstep,
My heart feels so heavy I so want to stay,
But there I must leave her till late in the evening,
When I shall return at the end of the day.

I'm heading to work on a cold winter's morning,
The sunlight does shine through the clouds up above,
Each step that I take is another step further,
Away from the arms of the one that I love.

While there my mind wanders I'm thinking about her,
Awaiting the time I can see her again,
I count every second each minute and hour,
Each day seems a lifetime of heartache and pain.

And then as I leave all my burdens seem lifted,
I sail through the air like the clouds up above,
Flying for freedom and heading for home now,
And into the arms of the one that I love.

I really like this one. Brings warmth to the heart. It is old fashioned and sentimental and I really appreciate this sort of writing. Lovely.
