The Place - Poem by Faith Offerman

This is the place I've learned so well
This is where I want to dwell
Someone took me far away
But this is where I want to stay
Down where no one else can see-
The answer to the mystery
At first, I did not want to go
To that dark place so down below
Way down there I was thrown-
To spend forever quite alone
Then the place soon brought me joy
A happiness you could not destroy
But then someone found me and brought me back
And put me somewhere happiness lacked
Now everyone knew where I was
And I was not content because
I couldn't stand to hear them cry
And constantly asking people 'why'
I hated all the lack of space
I wanted to be at the other place
The place that I had rested instead
The place where my body had laid cold and dead
