The Queen Of Sheba, A Narration
I wanted to tell you about the queen of Sheba,
yes, the world-famous queen of Sheba,
the most intelligent queen of all queens,
alike king Salomon
I only really like the expression:
when someone says something that is whole,
you reply with: 'Yes, and I am the Queen of Sheba'.
But she is a figure from the Bible,
because she is the queen who visited King Solomon.
That country where she reigned was 2000 kilometers away
from the Kingdom of King Salomon
The rumours about the genius mind of Salomon
Went year after year on and on
The Queen of Sheba was not only extremely wealthy,
but also very intelligent and eager to learn.
She had heard about the wisdom of Solomon,
but would not believe just like that.
So she decided to visit him herself.
She had prepared this by bringing along puzzles
to see if he was really as intelligent as they say.
Wanting to impress him,
she took half her household with her on the visit,
along with piles and piles of presents.
But once she got there, she stood there perplexed.
Not just the sheer amount and opulence of wisdom.
She said to Solomon, 'It is all much more impressive
than I had heard from the rumours.'
But Sheba was a wise and righteous woman.
That's why she knew how to see through all this opulence,
however she felt about it.
She said: 'It is a privilege for your men and servants,
that they may stand before you continually and hear your words full of wisdom! Blessed be Yahweh your God, who took such pleasure in you, that He set you on his throne as king before Yahweh your God! is hiding!
We can learn something from that!
By not being blinded by material things,
or even by clever talk of sensible remarks,
we see the blessing and goodness of our God that lurks behind them!
When you receive it, you are really rich!
