In this oft' menacing stage of life
There is so much truth to my lines
This starring role in a play on 'Wit's' is a challenge
While glaring footlights oft' blind my mind;
Rendering me unable to scan the balcony
Oh to be a player in this role of a lifetime
From the beginning - all the way to its end
Soon to take my final bow - with the answer to the crime;
As the final curtain is soon to come down
We wait patiently for the proverbial 'Fat Lady'
To sing her golden 'Swan Song'
A standing ovation in the theater of 'Life's Too Many Wrongs'.
Heartbreak has been my closest stand in -
Betrayal & Vicious lies were the other's roles
Duplicity & conspiracy - their lines...
In the evil minds of this cast's darkest souls.
Radio City blazes bright this day...
Across the pond there is a manually working gate
While the back stage is connected to next door
As the play write of this show is filled with greed & hate.

A beautiful poem, Theo. There is a bittersweet quality. There's also something in the second stanza that reminds me of Romeo and Juliet.
Mj, thank you so much for taking the time to read and comment. Your comments mean a lot to me. Romeo and Juliet-second stanza, yes, i can see that. This write was meant to be bittersweet- and is all fictional but you probably already had that figured out. We writers need all of the imagination we can come up with, don't we? Anyway, you are a dear and again, thank you for reviewing me. Always appreciated, Mj.
