No, no I ain't ever been
no princess...Only in my dreams,
am I. And no, no I ain't ever
seen the country, wide. On, no
white horse, with no prince, did
I ever ride. To his castle high.
Eagles Cry.
But, What I have seen, has opened
my eyes. To what's inside. And the
parts we try to hide. You and Me...
So many heart aches. So many way's
for the soul to bleed.
But, It's good to see,
the sunshine, a smile, the
dancing of a leaf. Sun reflecting.
Reminding me. Every once in a while.
That ballerina, that princess, that child.
Hasn't seen... hasn't been...hasn't felt...
That wild, gust a wind... For a while. That
made her feel alive, with in.... And it's
time, to look inside, out again... Back to
when. She was who, she was then...
Your poem addresses a complex subject head-on with no hesitation or prevarication. It's the issue of our desires being so much larger and numerous than our realities. You have suppressed those desires having grown older but now you realize they had the value of enriching your life, giving you momentum. And you are engaged in a resurrection of sorts as you rediscover the happiness you felt when you harbored such hopes in your soul. Brava! ! ! !
Hi Becca, A wonderful poem, just showing what a talented Wordsmith you are. The slangish language you start the poem with and the progress in language as we progress in the poem, reminds us of the Great George Bernard Shaw in Pygmalion. Great work..100+++
