There once was a sonnet
it sang every night from the depths
of the weeping willow tree
down by the quiet and motionless lake
frosted by the moonlight.
This sonnet it yearned for its lady love
and heaved its lonely deep sighs
from just about every line.
There once was a sonnet
it sang every night from the depths
of the weeping willow tree
until love died down by the quiet and motionless lake.

Beautifully crafted write. The recurring lines enhanced the beauty of this marvelous poem. To my Poem List.
Love that is never reciprocated will cease to exist in God's own time
The weeping willow tree, the motionless and frosted lake are brilliant depiction of great sadness.
A poetic gem full of metaphors. Beautiful poetic expression of emotions.
