This Mask Poem by Michael Smith

This Mask

Rating: 5.0

I wear a mask from now on.
To hide my true feelings.
As I lie on this bed.
And stare at this ceiling.
Oh what a feeling.
To know I'm alone.
To not be by your side.
Just to remain here at home.
Your beauty scares me.
Like a late night horror movie.
Spine tingling chills.
Giving goosebumps to me.
This mask helps me see.
This whole new life in a new way.
That I must now shade my inner thoughts.
To survive each day.
I can see now.
That it'll take awhile.
For me to remove this mask.
Cause I now see this future.
Won't be near as difficult as my past.
I wear this mask till I know it's safe.
Staring at this ceiling.
In this lonely old place.
