We had travelled far,
A weekend away to see my aunt.
It was our first weekend away without my dad,
And i still remember feeling oh so sad.
He waved us off at the station,
The tears ran down my face,
We were leaving our home town without him,
I can still see his smiling face.
After a really long weekend,
It was time to head for home,
We had no forms of communication,
No trendy mobile phones,
For this was a time in the sixties,
When life then was basic but good,
As we walked up from the station,
There on the hill he stood.
That feeling of love exploded,
I ran to his strong loving arms,
That feeling of love will stay with me,
That memory forever lives on.

Yes, I still miss my Father with every day. But we have good memories don't we.
Congrats on POD. Such a great memory visit. And yes, life was better without cell phones.
