Thoughtless Dream - Poem by Jana Courville

I remember the night all the lights went out
and we sat there playing guitar by candlelight
three candles scattered about the room
their light shinning on your oh so perfect face
lighting up your gleaming eyes
glaring on your smile
oh yes do I remember that night
you said I need to get some rest
for the long day that await tomorrow
I was scared not yet sure
if I wanted to face my nightmares alone again this night
but you stayed with me
you held me close
till I drifted to my sleep
and when I awoke I realized
that it was another thoughtless dream
