Thoughts Poem by Mallika Achuthan Menon

Thoughts

Rating: 5.0

You and me and everyone's mind
are filled with hundred thousand thoughts.
They come and go with lightning speed
Change off and on in pace of light.
When or how is not a matter
Wherever we go they are there
In our conscience they stick well
Then and there they swell in number
Our consent is not needed for them
to intrude all minds invariably.
Some of them are light and beautiful
which entered us with joy and smile.
Some are dark and deluded
they bestowed us tons of pains.

Idle minds are their favourite playground
They pop up as dreams when we are asleep
Thoughts give wings to imagination
They do never ever bother to
make them wither as well as bloom.
Round the world they can travel
Just in seconds faster than wind.
High or low in league isn't their concern
to trespass each mind undoubtedly.
Nor they have any stability
as they come one after one in a chain.

No one can escape from its clutches
As we are not sages who won them wisely!
At times thoughts make tower of dreams
Shortly they may tumble down as
sand castles without leaving bit of remnant..
They can kindle enticing desires
But can extinguish the same
Without mercy, within no time.

Thoughts, I don't love you anymore
As all perfect imperfections got
personified in you alone.
I am drowning into thoughts of sea
and their roaring waves are engulfing me.
Why they appeared emptier, darker?
They looked like shadows of my feelings.
They do dare to smother me,
At times I felt their soothing touch.
Why I feel they are the keys
to determine one's own goal?
They live and thrive well in our minds
If they are absent no life is there...

Yes, we think many things at a time. Some have clarity, Some are vague, Some are Dark. As you said Mind is the fastest thing in the world. A 7 out of 10 is my rating.

Great thought on thoughts! Very well expressed. It is all in the the state of mind. True, thoughts can take us to heights or bring us low and destroy us. Thoughts can translate to things. Thoughts make us dream. If we don't dream dreams we are like a bird with a broken wing - that cannot fly! . Beautifully written. Enjoyed it. Thank you.

Some are dark and deluded they bestowed us tons of pains. Idle minds are their favourite playground They pop up as dreams when we are asleep How true! ! Many people out of the thoughts of their minds take into dreams, and in delusions, think they've seen visions and go about deceiving many.. God bless you my friend.. God bless you

Very rightly you said. We the human being are differentiated from other species only because of having a treasure of thoughts in our mind. Though it may either create or destruct but it's unique. Thanks.

No psychologist has said this much about 'thoughts'. Some of the lines can inspire critics or essayists to write several pages on them. Thoughts give wings to imagination-such wonderful lines give beauty to poetry.
