To Death Misfortune And Joy Poem by Richard Wlodarski

To Death Misfortune And Joy

Rating: 5.0

Here's to the death
Of bloody war
To the death
Of ISIL
And all holy wars
Here's to the death
Of terrorism
To the death
Of extremists
All dictators
Here's to the death
Of racism
To the death
Of KKK
And all not OK

Here's to my misfortune
Learning through life's mistakes
Strengthening my fortune
From classic movie outtakes

Here's to your misfortune
May you learn about poverty
About sweat shop misery
'bout inherited fortune

Here's to Ode To Joy
To the music in all of us
To the poetry of the soul
To love and peace in the world

what a Wonderful, deep and moving poem! All the miserable, miseries of life and this world are with painful exactitude projected And Then that last stanza evokes all that gives hope and keeps us alive 'Here's to Ode, to Joy, To the music in all of us, To the poetry of the Soul, To Love and Peace in the world So very true and joyous and great. Made me cry Good poets always seem to redeem our sins, one way or another. Congratulation for an outstanding piece.

Thank you, Sandra for the very moving feedback. I am pleased that the poem evoked such a response in you. The poem's title comes from a toast that my music collaborator now uses most of the time. He came up with it after having experienced far too many tragedies in his life. I thought that it would make for a good title and theme for a poem, and he gave me permission to use it.
