To Deeply Breathe Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

To Deeply Breathe

Many pray to claim their faith.
In devoted confessions.
Done to do and say,
"God only You,
Will I always obey.
Please show me,
The truth and what You'll have me do."
And yet...
Question most will,
That message wanted to get.
To then pray and beg on knees to plead,
For another message.
More appropriate for their deluded minds,
Prepared to accept after inspection.
Since that message to receive,
Does not provide an anticipated relief.
With a doing to accuse God,
For not being there to answer their prayers.
Done kept to keep their fantasies sweetened.
And allowing them to deeply breathe with ease.
Once God overlooked and dismissed their sins.
To do as instructed and on demand to command.
