To Know It Felt Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

To Know It Felt

Honesty to know it felt.
And also heard by others,
Disapproving of it to speak openly.
May not bring anyone thunderous applause.
Standing ovations or accolades.
But nights to welcome sleep peacefully,
Is not a concern or a problem one has.
With this done to do deeply.
Greeting each dawn to move on,
Knowing to leave deceivers behind.
Who find new medications prescribed to take,
Will never replace honesty to know it felt.
Or chase away the lies told to themselves.
Living lives trying to deny and hide,
Deceptions they have created to rely upon.
This eventually prolonged to do,
Continues to erode their mentalities.
