To Love You Forever Poem by Meggie Gultiano

To Love You Forever

Standing in an open field,
drenched by the rain, just a cap for shield,
my whole body shivered, remembering the past,
a vivid encounter which could not last.

Saying goodbye was very hard to face,
following our breathless warm embrace.
This man I have loved since many years ago
but our dreams and promises all have to go.

Promises of love, forever true,
with all my strength, I will carry you.
These were our promises when love was growing;
our cup of joy filled to overflowing.

Mountains may move, their mighty peaks tumble,
hills in their effort to wander, may crumble;
but my love for you is not just a token.
It will stay in my heart and never be broken.

I will cherish your promises of sweet love, undying
until in each others arms once more we are lying,
once more whispering words which are forever true,
'With all my heart, Darling, I love only you.'
