Told Repeatedly To Ignore Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

Told Repeatedly To Ignore

'You get what you pay for! '
Words told to hear.
Yet repeatedly heard to go ignored.

Money to have it,
Can not buy common sense.
Logic.
Or dependable competence.

Although money 'can' buy...
The image of status.
Impressions to make.
Pretentiousness to have it.
And selfish greed to create.

Money to have it can also buy...
Unconscious and mindless followers.
Entertained by those,
Selected and picked...
To represent their interests.
With this to believe,
They have qualities to be leaders.
In times when they are needed,
Without seeking them sought desperately.

But this leadership when needed,
Sought should not disappoint.
In these days as it does.
For many to awaken and realize,
What they paid for was to be entertained.
And leadership was not part of the game.
Played to maintain delusions.

'You get what you pay for! '
Words told to hear.
Yet repeatedly heard to go ignored
