Toleration Poem by Will Barber

Toleration

Rating: 4.8

Tolerance is tyranny, postponed:
Indifference to one man, alone.

Tolerance is conditioned love,
Jettisoned when seas grow rough.

Tolerance never set man free.
Seek ye human liberty.

Hi Will. This little piece is pretty intense. Sounds like you're angry. There must be someone you want to give yourself permission to be intolerant towards. Well, you do have MY permission. Cheers.

This is one your most powerful pieces...glad you re-posted it. Precise messages with perfect delivery amplified by form. I hear the second stanza like a siren. Brilliant. -Tailor

I loved this one Will. I have always felt that Tolerance is a horrid word. It means, 'I choose to stand you, but that does not mean I respect you, nor does it mean I need to find a love in my heart for you'. You've captured that sentiment well in this poem. Great write Will! :)

Political correctness is a lie, a trap to live without risk.

What a well-written and clever poem. Tolerance can be a good and positive thing but not if it is lazziness when you could be a fanatic for kindness, love, and beauty! Uriah
