टोमाटीना की होती होली स्पेन में
देखी ऎसी हँसी ठिठोली स्पेन में
पके टमाटर फेंक के मारे जाते हैं
लाल हो जाते सब हमजोली स्पेन में
भारत में तो रंगों वाली होती है
टमाटरों से खिलती होली स्पेन में
Tomatina is a delightful festival of Spain where they hurl tomatoes at each other. Its fun to watch the festival. But i always wondered the amount of tomatoes that get wasted as a food. In India the price of tomato had shot up recently and has become an expensive vegetable now. Tomato is a vital ingredient of Indian cuisine. A cute short poem in Hindi
I read it somewhere read that about 300 Tons of tomato is used (the festival is confined to a single town) . You have rightly drawn attention towards shortage as well as exorbitant prices of tomato in our country. The festive revelry is observed on the last Wednesday of August every year, So, it does not make much of an impact in terms of wastage. Thank you, Geeta ji.

Enjoyed the Tomatina festival through this poem which is celebrated every year on last wednesday of August at Spain. The throwing of ripe tomatoes over the friends in a huge amount is instresting, it colours them red.
