Tree 3 - A Tree Is An Absorbent - Poem by Dr. Geeta Radhakrishna Menon
Stupendous creation of God - The trees!
So rich in content,
So regal in stature,
So resplendent in form,
So green and clean,
Surviving the onslaught of nature's fury,
Sincerely aiding the human kind by
Solving the problems caused by pollution!
Tropical countries, so full of trees,
Trees that act as defence mechanism,
Tolerating and assimilating the heat of the sun,
To protect people from oppressing heat,
To prevent sun-burns and sun-strokes,
To shade from the piercing ultra-violet rays,
To save man from various diseases of lungs and stomach,
To secure man from sickness and suffering!
A great absorbent! The trees!
Amazing capacity to draw in and
Absorb toxic elements from
Atmospherically infected areas,
Assimilating every bit of poisonous gas,
Alarming emissions from synthetic substances,
Alerting man to beware of contamination
Absorbs all! The unwanted rubbish too!
A tree has an unbelievable
Capacity to absorb
Carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide
Corrupting the surrounding with killer gases
Clever trees! They not only absorb, but
Convert as well! The impure into pure substance,
Counter balancing and counter weighing,
Corroborating with ecological-system of balance!
Saving the environment from
Skillfully retaining the carbon,
Showering oxygen into the atmosphere
Sighted with a clean vision,
Specified purpose to let man breathe,
Stay healthy and fit,
Shielding the vital green from annihilation!
