A Karma Yogi performs
selfless actions for the
benefit of others.
The trees face storms, rain
heat and cold,
protect us from all of them
like our mothers.
They are the bestowers of life
for all living beings,
offer us shade, oxygen, sap,
leaves, flowers and woods,
fruits to relive our hunger.
Not only serve man,
a variety insects, birds and
animals get their food and shelter.
It does all the work
until the fruits appear
but denounces them
as soon as they are grown.
Never eats them,
like the river not drinking its own water,
gives them entirely to others
even if we hit with sticks and stones.
A sanskrit verse from Matsya Purana
in Indic culture states
'A pond equals ten wells;
a reservoir equals ten ponds;
a son equals ten reservoirs;
a tree equals ten sons'.
Shri Krishna, therefore, termed
the tree as the greatest Karma Yogi,
let's take this seriously into our hearts
and plant one tree, at least, to save
the earth from ecological imbalance
and intoxicating pollution.

Poet Dash, as strange as it may seem, your amazing poem has given me great insight as to why I've always wanted a tree planted in my memory upon my death. So many thanks for this very insightful poem!
