Trees Play Holi Poem by Unnikrishnan Sivasankara Menon

Trees Play Holi

Rating: 5.0

Autumn; skies start dreaming
of spring, time for the trees
to break free from their
eternal prison of green,

they play Holi with gulal
of every hue and colour
paint themselves
with a riot of colours.

A beautiful poem with nature observation! May I quote--'time for the trees to break free from their eternal prison of green, '. Green is beautiful, but as with anything which keeps you in bondage, may be broken to keep yourself free to breath.

True, Bharati! Do the trees not wish and dream their freedom from the eternal shackles of green?

A beautiful depiction of a captivating season. Many people love autumn for the changing color of leaves. Trees that were once green turn into beautiful hues of gold, red, purple and orange. A lovely poem.

True! The trees do play Holi, albeit a litter early. For, Holi is the Festival of Spring in India, but trees play Holi a little earlier, in Autumn

The great Indian festival of Holi marks the end of winter and beginning of Spring. Autumn is the spring of deciduous trees! ? !
