Turn Up The Volume Poem by Kewayne Wadley

Turn Up The Volume

I find you in the songs I listen to.
I listen to them loud and unapologetically.
Sometimes I block out the rest of the world to it.
Not that they're paying attention anyway,
The world I mean.
It doesn't matter if I've heard them before.
I can listen to them a hundred times over.
I always find something new.
To be a young black man and in love
with something that can make you
smile in an instant.
Nothing is ever as invisible as it may
seem.
Neither are you, cleverly coming
through loud and clear through my
headphones.
Sometimes as rock and roll,
sometimes as RnB.
You give me something to smile about.
Each and everytime.
All I have to do is turn the volume up
and there you appear
