Under A Blanket Of Water Poem by Ruta Mohapatra

Under A Blanket Of Water

Rating: 4.3

It has been raining all day
And most of the evening too
The air has grown very cool
In spite of the closed windows

The trees are drenched to the core
Poodles of water everywhere
The black tar roads shine bright
Under the dripping street lights

The birds have been quiet all day
Hardly coming down to the ground
People have been staying indoors
Even the cats are not roaming around

In such cold deep dark nights
Sleep comes easy to the eyes
Hope tomorrow will be a bright sunny day
And the birds will come out to play

A fantastic poem, during rainy season nature remains in silence whereas the raindrops does the pit-pat talking...10+++++ My fav: In such cold deep dark nights Sleep comes easy to the eyes Hope tomorrow will be a bright sunny day And the birds will come out to play

A beautiful poem on rain. Yeah it is cool inside and don't want to leave the bed. Nicely crafted to make it interesting. Loved it. Thanks for sharing.

Lovely poem, it relates well with what I have here... five days of almost continual rain and one hopes the sun will be out soon....

Nice poem. I would just suggest that you work on your rhyming scheme so that if its AB it remains the same in every stanza to give it more rhythm.
