I look out my old window
see the rain pourin' down,
look out that broken window,
see pain comin' around -
I open my back door
see trouble comin' along,
open that heavy door,
and hear an old mournful song -
I walk right outside
hear thunder crashin' everywhere,
walk a ways, way outside,
see lightnin' strike here and there -
I feel the old cold
come gather around me,
that ol' chill,
just won't let me be -
Then, I see, in the distance
my baby, comin' home,
far off in that distance,
she's comin' back, all alone -
I see a smile
I can't deny,
a smile
breakin' open that cloudy sky -
I say, hello baby
come on in,
I say, hello sunshine,
welcome back, once again -
Before love lost, I take it, eh, Smoky? But the memory—that you have. Wishing lots more love your way, Glen
Five stars, Smoky! Wish I could vote it more! Magnificent poem, for sure!
oh, and a huge starry night in which to enjoy the homecoming! ! ! ! !
am absolutely nuts over this poem. It speaks to me in such elemental words that pack a deep emotional power for me. I want to read this over and over and over every day
Magnificent, Smoky. This scenario can be a grand reunion or a fond farewell...
