What Does It Mean? Poem by Ellen Ni Bheachain

What Does It Mean?

Rating: 5.0

What does it mean?
When we look at the world today and all that is going on,
Are we being reminded or warned of things to come,
With mother nature weeping so,
For nature that is slowly dying,
And the Acts of God with all its wrath,
Has been so frequent in these last few years,
Does it impact on how we feel?

Our emotions our anger and how to deal with it,
Power and lust are at odds,
Countries covering up while others are a free for all,
Then nations to nations taking over,
While the planet is burning with wildfires everywhere,
What does it mean?
What have we become?

We have become a selfish kind of humans,
Compared to those before us,
With money and power, the big want now,
As the next inherit and so forth,
But what do we as this present human race leave,
To the next generation and the next thereof,
A burnt-out planet with scientists rushing to discover,
Another planet for humans to habitat,
Will it be discovered in time?
Because we have abused what is naturally ours.

We are running out of excuses and now governments have emission law and climate change policies. People never took it serious and now we must try and repair what is our natural habitat. E-NíB.
