What Together We Do Poem by Lawrence S. Pertillar

What Together We Do

Rating: 5.0

Most of us.
Including you.
Me. They and them.
Regardless of ethnicity.
Religious or political affiliation.
Or the color of our skins,
To us God has given.
There is not a moment,
We live that goes dismissed.
That each step forward,
Is a step taken to leave...
A past and time,
Gone to have lived it.
And behind us known,
To have experienced!

Unknown with each step,
Forward to make.
Is for us an opportunity,
To correct mistakes made.
To better ourselves.
And a quality of life for all.
Not for just a few.
But for everyone who sees,
With open eyes to clearly view...
Our lives blessed to receive,
Could and would not exist...
Without acknowledging,
Each step taken to make...
That has moved us forward,
Took progress to embrace.
With obstacles to face.
Eventually erased.
And this undenied to witness.

Challenges and tasks,
Seldom come to go...
Without effort to endeavor.
Or disappointments.
To get over them.
No steps made moving forward,
Come with a map to follow.
Nor with a guarantee,
Each step is sweetened...
With a promise done to do,
Successfully.

However...
Those wishing to want,
Their steps to advance.
And create advantages for all.
Is that future that awaits.
Like an empty plate,
Anticipating...
What is placed upon it.
And...
What together we do,
To choose those choices...
Known and shown,
To be of benefit for all.
