On a hill in a valley,
We looked down with awe,
At the pit wheels in motion,
Where the men worked below.
Times were tough then but happy,
I remember it well,
When the pit wheels stopped turning,
The industry fell.
The village had lost,
A big part of its life,
Time moved on swiftly,
Now a different sight.
Those days were the finest,
To never forget,
When those old pit wheels turned,
As the bright sunshine set.
