Who Am I? - Poem by Eila Mahima Jaipaul

dreams are the only way I can see myself as you say you do.
it's during those moments that I want to be possessed by you.
to feel the want
to feel the desire
to feel beautiful
desperation draws me to it
the need for honesty and the hunger for intensity.
I would have stopped at nothing for a kiss
or a caressing finger that would have told me more
deeds are at times less obvious than words
so I joined the dance.
surrounded myself in the prose
sipped from the gleaming chalice lay before me.
Just for a moment I dropped my guard, denied reality.
for just a moment
I believed.
