Why Can't I Change? Poem by Gerald Opio

Why Can't I Change?

Rating: 5.0

Days go by
Months come and go
Years fly
Time passes by so fast
But I remain the same
The old dullsville life
Stays evident
All the days of my life
I try as much as I can
But malice has an addiction
Appended to it
it's grasp as tight as
An eagles claws
When it grips it's prey
Sin has a touch of pleasure
That engrosses your mind
Entices it and manipulates you
Till you fall victim
Against your own will
You end up doing
Exactly what you don't
or never agree with
Thus canal desires seem stronger
When the spirit is weak.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Prayer, fasting and devotion to God is the only way to go. Pleasure holds us in captivity hence rendering us weak and prone to being consumed by sin. Let's keep on fighting because the war is not over until you are out of this world. Keep on believing.

Profound poem, day in and day out we follow our set routine, we hardly ponder on anything to improve and correct our path, by the time we realise it, it is too late. Fantastic thoughtful poem.5*****
