The people of Earth face many problems
Struggling just to live and maintain peace.
There's differences in language, faith and race
With misguided hated unwilling to cease.
To solve these problems that plague mankind
We must strive as never before.
Demanding justice with truth in settling disputes
While recalling the loss and heartbreak of war.
War is an emotional release for man
Practiced since the first stones were cast.
Could it be nature's way of thinning the numbers
As the fallen are consumed by the past.
Some have asked why must we study history
It just encourages us to live in the past.
When we forget God and submit to whatever
The sorrows of our sins forever last.

A profound ode to history. Easy to see why it's Poem Of The Day. Congratulations, Tom!
It looks wars are there to reduce heavy population in the world indeed! History is necessary to know about the mistakes of the past so as to correct ourselves in order to not allow history to repeat itself as far as wars are concerned!
It's so sad that many people seem to forget God these days. While some other are failing to believe that He is yet exist. Nice work, Tom, thanks for sharing!

'To solve these problems that plague mankind'... and to have an analysis of wars fought in the past and the setbacks and progress recorded during past several centuries on a time continuum, we need to study history. Nicely articulated and presented. Thanks, Tom.
