Why, Why, And Why? Poem by Eric Cockrell

Why, Why, And Why?

Rating: 0.5

another tree cut down,
another tanker filled with oil.
another book gets banned,
another protest on American soil.

another politician lies,
another banker forecloses.
another family on the street,
another small business closes.

another mill shut down,
another farm goes bank.
another river polluted,
can you put that in your tank?

another child becomes an addict,
another young girl sold like meat.
another old man dies....
dancing to the beat....

why, why, and why?
cant you hear your children cry?
are we too beat down to try?
the eagle spreads its wings...
.........and flies!

Great poem. No one ever hears the children cry because there too busy making money, or putting others out on the street. Good poem.

Your poetry never ceases to amaze me. I honestly believe it's strongest appeal is so because it stirs the conscience in me. I never tire of reading verse like this. Great stuff. Never back down from what you do because it is so fundamentally important.

Simplistic but powerful and true Eric. Even this side of the great pond. Peace and regards. Craig.
