William Poem by Theresa Ann Moore

William

William was not an ordinary man.
He dreamed and said, 'Yes I can! '
He had a persona he wanted to convey.
He wasn’t exactly what he would display.

Being charming, he had a definite advantage.
Often, he got into situations hard to manage.
He was dapper and he drove expensive cars.
Expenditures climbed out of sight, to the stars.

His approach wasn’t always rational or legit.
Pushing beyond what the limits would permit.
The thought of losing riches made him queasy.
The life style of apparent wealth was not easy.

He created interactions with others based on lies.
Business deals were made with a trusting disguise.
Soon he began to cleverly deceive and scam.
He turned to methods that put him in a jam.

Writing checks without the currency to deliver
Made his friends and associates stop and shiver.
Sadly his fabricated world began to fall apart.
Unhappily, his acquaintances started to depart.

He became homeless and lived out on the street
Looking for a warm meal and a place to retreat.
He was no longer able continue the masquerade.
He found kind-hearted people who offered aid.

He began doing for others without charging a fee.
He found treasures in the trash; they were for free.
He turned to the Bible trying to find his salvation.
He asked for guidance from the Lord of creation.

He faced the consequences of his regretful choices.
Now with sincere and humble honesty, he rejoices.
His life is no longer dismal and filled with deceit.
He soul has been saved; he is no longer incomplete.
