When the game was nearly over,
Sophia threw in the hand;
The old man laughed, incontinently:
Such a dirty, dirty man.
'Such is the lot of gamblers, '
I heard the old man crow,
'If you didn't know it Sophia,
You know it now.'
So, off she had to wander,
Minus her pearls and fan.
She couldn't help but think,
'My god, what an awful man.'

A fine poem...illustrating how wisdom Depends on one's perspective......I like it Love, D.
Provocative, original and very amusing too. What fun, Will.! Warm regards, Sandra
This poem leaves one wanting to know more about the players... Yes, perspective is all. An atmospheric piece, Sir Will of Barbery! Esther : ]
Sounds like a bad loser! Did she know the rules? Wisdom comes slowly anyway if it comes at all. A provocative and poetic poser on how we get it Will! jim
