Adrian Blount

Rookie (England)

Words - Poem by Adrian Blount

Unconnected, disjointed
ambling along an undefined path.
colliding and careering
in different directions.

Scrambled in my brain,
an undisciplined, unkempt
jumble of disoriented
associations of thought.

That Shakespeare moulded
in form so measured -
precise, yet delicate
winsome with strength.

I long to master
to command and control,
to shape to the world around me
to make sense.

Will you ever elude me
a phantasm out of reach-
a siren calling me forward
to destruction, on the rocks of ineptitude.
