World's 15 Biggest Ships Create More Pollution Than All The Cars In The World Poem by Spock the Vegan

World's 15 Biggest Ships Create More Pollution Than All The Cars In The World

Rating: 5.0

According to the UK's Guardian newspaper, just one of the world's
largest container ships can emit about as much pollution as 50 million cars!
Furthermore, the 15 largest ships in the world emit as much
nitrogen oxide and sulphur oxide as the world's 760 million cars!

The problem lies with the heavy fuel oil the ships run on,
and almost no emission regulations for these container ships.
The good news, they say, is that legislation to keep them at least
230 miles away from U.S. coastlines came from a politician's lips.

Hello! ! ! , is anybody in there? ? ?
[knocking on the politicians head with a cane]
It's typical bureaucratic "intelligence" to think that solves anything.
What goes around comes around, and pollution comes around again.

It would seem that shipping oil by pipeline is much better
than shipping oil in these large polluting ships.
And don't forget all the products that are shipped from overseas
that used to be built by people here who are now in unemployment's grips.

I'm not sure that even a rich person could do much except as a congressman or president (to bring about legislation to change it.)

I, like Mike, had no idea about this kind of thing. Once again you have opened my eyes. I'm always astounded at the facts you come up with in your poems.

This came to me from a engineering web site that I visit regularly. You put out some interesting poems yourself.

There are many such examples of this type of flagrant pollution and consumption. I respect your desire to put issues like this in the forefront. It all stems from greed by a ridiculously small percentage of the planet's occupants.

Thanks for your support. Greed is certainly a big problem. The Panama Papers bring that to light. There may be more that you think.

Had no idea about this. It seems we are in a race to destroy our planet... These ships, just one of many accelerants

Yes, and think about all the other ships. They are probably high pollutors too (Navy, cruise ships, other transports, etc.) .
