In Search Of A Sound
I heard a sound this morning
That I'd never heard before,
So I went outside to see if
I could hear that sound once more.
So I set off down a near by street
And could hear the traffic pass,
And then a lawnmower engine
As a neighbour cut his grass.
Then I heard a big dog barking
As it caught sight of a cat,
Then a poor old man was swearing
As the wind blew off his hat.
And when I reached the tree line
I could hear a blackbird sing,
Then i cut across a lonely field
And couldn't hear a thing.
I strolled along the river bank
