I find only the milk white blood
Of locusts running through you

The monotony of honey and
Its osmotic ache for water

Snowy spittle of dry mouth,
Heels cracked like the baked road

They knew best, had to travel
You like so many water birds,

Operas, gemstones; you
Spoke your magic to someone else,

That uncomfortable sandy slickness
Of moldy cellar bricks and fermenting earth
