She smiles at the mirror, eyes blue as the sky
Dreaming of Paris and faraway places
Of people she’ll meet, their stories, their faces
Wishing that time would quickly go by
...
Up, up
The smooth and glassy surface of my shower
He crawled
His delicate spindly legs glued, as if by magic
...
I would like to enter you through your eyes;
To enter the coolness
Of their blue,
To swim in you

(For Isabel on her Confirmation Day)
May the faith you confirm today
Be your key
...
Loving you
Through copper wires
Has taught me
The pain of patience
...
Every seed of kindness
That you plant today
Will one day
Be a bouquet
...
His shoes lay on the ground
Two huge galleons
That had collided in the night
And now were sinking
...
Rocking chair, so solid
Basking in the sun
Full of purpose
Full of meaning
...
That place you find so easily
Eludes me like a dream
I can’t remember
Though I feel it tingling, warm and fuzzy
...
How soft it is around you
Like a padded room for lunatics
You buffer all my pains
I beat my head against your pillowed chest
...
I have loved you like a lantern
Shinning in the night
When all the world was sleeping
And I alone was up
...
When you sleep so soundly
I lie awake watching you
And I cannot remember
The night’s embraces
...
This tongue of mine
Will stand for me
Wrapping round my heart
Like a monkey on a tree
...
I cannot love you
like a summer storm
with the windows
wide open
...
I drew a picture of U
but the nose was 2
big, the lips in love
like a girl’s
...
He was
Like that tulip he gave me
Once, for my birthday
Not beautiful, or

I started writing poetry while I was still in college and although the content of my poetry has changed quite a bit (not as much angst and broken hearts) , my style remains much the same. My favorite poets are Margaret Atwood, Marge Piercy, Maya Angelou and Pablo Neruda, to name a few.)
A Rondel For Olivia
She smiles at the mirror, eyes blue as the sky
Dreaming of Paris and faraway places
Of people she’ll meet, their stories, their faces
Wishing that time would quickly go by
She’s ready to soar, she’s ready to fly
Packed all her hopes in matching suitcases
She smiles at the mirror, eyes blue as the sky
Dreaming of Paris and faraway places
She wants to go far, she wants to fly high
Trying to catch those dreams that she chases
No time to tie her childhood shoelaces
Dancing, spinning, she turns with a sigh
She smiles at the mirror, eyes blue as the sky
Quiero Annabel ~ My hopes rose when I saw the title of Today's Poem: a rondel! I am not disappointed. At last, a really excellent poem in this slot. I'm a friend through the mail of Gerardo Hernandez: one of your Five imprisoned Heroes. One of his poems I translated is on my page. I'm writing him a letter this weekend. I'm going to send him your poem. Can I give him a message from you? Volveran!
