I saw you at the park the other day
standing alone in the pouring rain
not sure why you were there
or who you were waiting for
your long purple coat almost soaked through
bag swinging from its one remaining handle
your long dark hair being blown about in the strong wind
Feel embarrassed at how it all ended between us
know that a lot if it was all my fault
feel so bad about how it ended
when we both just walked away
Took all of my strength to stop me
from going up to you and giving you a hug
to tell you that I do still care
but the moment passed and you turned away
not even sure you noticed that I was there
I wanted to tell you the truth of how I felt
to let you know that I still need you badly
I know I wouldn't have to ask you your opinion
you'd tell me that you still need me too
I turn away to go back home
the falling rain masking my tears
I hope one day we can meet on friendly terms
and maybe on that day we can at least strike up an agreement
maybe on that occasion we'll get on just like we used to
when the sun did shine for us
hey, the poem is almos discribed about strangers.....! A very nice poem
while reading this, it seemed so vivid for me. Truly a sad event, at the same time though the longer you wait to reconcile the fewer your chances of getting back together are. ~Nika
Wow that was beautiful...I like the last line in contrast with the rainy day and corresponding emotion.
A very wonderful and emotional piece. I like the imagery, very sad and emotional. The blend of the rain and the tears makes it fantastic. It is really sad, when lovers, who still love each other, eventually seperate. However, what belongs to you will surely come back to you. Well written......keep it up!
The saddest part in every relationship is leaving goodbye! Who knows at the end of the road...might be two of you will be together again. Just keep holding on..if it is meant to be..meant to be Heartbreaking poem
john, these are some of my favorite lines from your outstanding poem. [if i were a romantic, i might have chosen other lines for applause.] your long purple coat almost soaked through bag swinging from its one remaining handle your long dark hair being blown about in the strong wind thanks for sharing. bri :)
Wow..a heart-touching poem! While i read word-by-word I found a clear picture in my mind showing how two close buddies became strangers.
