फुटपाथ (2) (Footpath 2 / Hindi)
पैदल चलने वालों का साथी
सड़क के दोनों और बना हूँ
नामहीन फुटपाथ सपाट सा
मेरा अता पता भी अब तो
कुछ लोगों ने है छीन लिया
रेहड़ी वाले और पोलिश वाले
सिगरेट, पान, तंबाकू वाले
फल वाले और मांगने वाले
और चमत्कारी अंगूठी वाले
बच्चों के खेल खिलोने वाले
फुटपाथों से सड़कों तक पर
अनाधिकार जम कर बैठे हैं
अब तो हालत कुछ ऐसी है
मैं खुद अपने को ढूँढ रहा हूँ
नामहीन फुटपाथ हूँ मैं तो...
Unauthorized encroachments are a problem in almot all Asian countries. It's a lovely poem on the footpaths.
Partly due to socio-economic conditions and partly due to laxity on the part of administration, encroachments take place. Last year, several people died in a stampede on a railway over-bridge in Mumbai. This was attributed to small time sellers who occupied a part of the bridge Thanks a lot Akhtar Jawad Sahab..
A clear and vivid picture of footpath has been astutely painted. It touches the readers. Another beautiful poem on footpath. I like walking on a footpath where books are laid out. The book sellers are so well informed that many a time, i have been able get rare books from them. As a lady, i feel comfortable and safe too, to walk on a street with books or even hawkers who sell their goods rather than a lonely road in Mumbai. In fact, i feel, they are a protection than a hindrance. Thank you Rajnish ji....10++
Yes, ease of shopping plus safety, especially for ladies, is foremost. Thanks for sharing your views. But, in some smaller markets, even the locals find it difficult to cross a stretch a street on foot. Shopkeepers themselves allow petty sellers for a fee. Booksellers organize their sales generally on Sundays. Geeta ji, your thoughtful inputs have, in fact, made important value additions on the subject.
