A Dealer In Death Poem by Theodora (Theo) Onken

A Dealer In Death

Rating: 5.0

Today he is on the road much of the time
.....Leaving, often, his Pennsylvania place
Now he makes his living selling 'Bath Salts' & 'Snow'
.....And other drugs often used to lace.

Although he's quite brilliant and aware- -
.....His personality leaves only disagreeable...
For he has made his choice on destruction- -
.....Which, many if they knew, would find unbelievable.

He has fallen in love with that mighty green back
.....And all that this paper can buy...
A lovely home - with a pool and tennis courts- -
.....And ever needful of his own much needed 'high'.

Truly believe that he is not the only professional doing this
.....As we had one here who was doing the same- -
However, he has passed away from this Earth
.....And yes, illegal drugs were to blame.

Psychopathy & greed are deadly personality traits
.....They often make for a conscienceless soul- -
Never mind the violence & other crimes committed...
.....When 'Bath Salts', Cocaine & Meth take their deadly toll.

You took on a current and tragic assault on our society... and the society of probably every country in the world. It does make one wonder- - could there be a country that isn't under attack of drug dealers and their poisonous highs? And why do people turn to drugs in the first case? Is it foolish curiosity that gets them hooked from the get go? Are our citizens so anchored to the couch that they cannot do the things like running, like swimming, like riding, like painting that could give them an earned and natural high? Very thought provoking piece, Theo.

Thank you Susan; It has touched to many of the lives of way to many i know and knew...my son has lost so many friends to drugs...dying from the side effects or overdoses...this past six months have been really bad here. The crime here is fueled by drugs...we have a huge Meth problem, also, coke and drugs which will kill you on the spot like bath salts. We have an outlaw Motor Cycle club here and they have already taken the life of one of my sons friends growing up- -his name is Dusty and he was murdered on the 4th of March. The Bandido's, though they deny it are involved heavily in the Meth trade. Meth, in and of itself, works on certain areas of the brain that arouses violence, and indifference with lack of conscience. We also have a drug cartel, and other gangs such as MS-13. This was once a small, serene, little town full of churches and crimes were practically nill when we moved here from Seattle. You're correct - it is a huge assault on society - on humanity - on basic goodness. Imagine other countries are dealing with this escalating evil but some places are just worse than others. People use drugs for various and sundry reason's - depression, thrill seeking, boredom, upbringing or the lack there of. What really rips my heart apart is the fact that people who should be fighting a war on drugs - professionals, healers, psychiatrists, are actually dealing these substances. We had a very well liked and looked up to, MD here who was a go between for Meth sales...he has since passed - and yes, the drug did his poor heart in. Just so angry and sad, right at the moment....i see the USA in so much Chaos and know that a good share of the reason, when analyzed closely - is drugs. We loose more people to the use of drugs, than car accidents, falls, natural diseases such as cancer...i read how many people, especially young ones who die every day because of the Meth, Coke, Heroin, Bath Salts...and other designer drugs like MDMA. Meth is easy to make - one need not be a chemist to make this nasty poison- -where is the conscience of those that manufacture, and deliver these NASTY substances...knowing that maybe it was their batch of say Meth that caused a young woman to die of a stroke, heart attack...to have convulsions and die..to buy heroin that has been stepped on with Fentynl...(sp) the latter only used in surgery until it hit the streest a year or two ago...These people are indirectly responsible for these deaths - - they are murdering indirectly for profit with not one twinge of guilt. i pray every day for our USA - a place that is so divided and full of hatred and violence...i pray every day for God to rescue us from this plague - this cancer - that is metastisizing (sp) at an alarming rate. Thinking about the new babies born everyday and wondering if it will continue to get worse- -and this is the world that they will be left to try and grow up in - to live a full life in - a safe life, a life filled with hope. My heart just aches for all of those who we have lost in the past 10 years to these caustic substances. Thank you again for reading and i am so sorry for going on but i am a full on anti-drug advocate. Hope that you are feeling much better and that your daughter is doing well. Know i can talk to you because we are the same age - give or take a few months and we grew up in the 60's where the drugs were pot and acid for the most part. We made it though... it did not escalate - today, it seems that we are living in the wild-wild west - a USA filled with nothing but outlaws - that have no respect for the law or other human beings lives.
