In another moment
we will ascend
into Heaven...
Just another moment...
Ah, it never happens
as expected. Why?
Why should it? My mind,
which tosses up desires,
thoughts, fantasies,
fears, promises,
all impartially, all
spontaneously, is really
a vast empty space, not
even articulated as prairie,
ocean-floor or outer space,
just emptiness, but
so vast it can pretend
to be the mind of a god.
It is a god's prerogative
to fully inhabit his spaces,
as if no boundaries
exist. Wherever
he sets his eyes,
boundaries stretch thin,
then vanish, that's
life in such heavenly
space we aspire to
reach in another moment,
in just another moment,
we will ascend, we will....
Yes there will be higher silence and who knows in what form and shape we will live there, A thoughtful poem, Hope is the only solace while we age on.10+++
I read that to the saints or righteous God opens the date so it is not that unexpected for them. In details of course that is a great enigma. Your poem involves like a cosmic funnel.
In silence we try to ascend towards heaven and this is right that in another moment we will ascend into higher realm. Silence deeply impacts mind. We feel this. You have beautifully penned this excellent poem and re-visiting this poem we feel glad...10
This poem of hope and hopelessness makes me think of Merwin. Much of his later work takes on the bigger issues, the ideas of how humans fit into this huge universe and how we're all connected to each other and to nature. Actually, I was expecting a poem from you about the black holes... :) I think this is the state me must strive for in order to write good poetry too. Thanks for sharing Daniel. I've missed reading your poetry.
ah, the mind. what you say here, daniel, reminds me of what i say in my poem " who are we? " don't we associate heaven with those brief glimpses when we are mind-less—see outside and beyond ourselves? blessings, brother. -glen
Yes, to " see outside and beyond ourselves" our mind must achieve a " mindless" condition, which is probably easier to do than to describe. Wordsworth used the phrase " WISE PASSIVENESS" to highlight that state of readiness and receptivity when our other sight can catch this " brief glimpse" into the soul-realm.
When we do meditation in silence, we improve a lot. We ascend towards heaven and feel heavenly qualities. Spontaneously mind comes up from emptiness and fills knowledge within. This is a great poem beautifully and excellently penned.10

Marvelous poem. With so much depth and understanding towards life’s most difficult questions. Our mind holds many answer. We call it our mind but really it is god’s prerogative to make it a ladder of ascension or to descend down. I appreciate this poem very much Daniel written with so much sensitivity and deep thought.
Yes, all you say is true - of both our lives and our poems. The ladder as you show is a very wonderful symbol of our moral existence - up or down, old or new, forward or retreat. Our minds contain all of our future poems, just waiting to be discovered. But the words are all jumbled up, we have to bring the order of poetic speech! !
