A Never Ending Story - Exploitation Poem by Samanyan Lakshminarayanan

A Never Ending Story - Exploitation

Rating: 5.0

Long long ago,
even before the first man ever-
stepped into the world.
It seems that the trees and the mountains-
used to be walking around-it seems

After the very first human was born,
what made them stop?
The trees and the mountain which used to be-
walking around.
what made them stop walking?
Where they stunned by a new creation?
What made them stand still?
Was it God willing?
yes, it was god willing.
The trees and the mountain had forgotten their walk.
The lord god would tell them-
You stand still-
You will get everything here-
Man will nurture you-
Man will adore you.
The trees and the mountain put their foot down.
How is it that-
The lord god did not realise that- later
In man's world 'livelihood' would become the predominant thing.
Man for his 'livelihood' would 'use' anything and everything.
The lord god did not realise that when he told the tree-
'You get your life breath from man and let man get his-
life breath from you'.
'Livelihood' has become more than 'Life' to man today.
He constructs houses with stones-
He makes his cots from trees-
He makes his cradle from trees-
Even in his death bed he uses the tree wood to burn him out.
If he was buried he needs the granite stone as a tomb.
The poor tree has no way out-
it cannot even run away.
The trees and the mountains have been stationary all along-
they have forgotten their walk even.

The lord god who made this all-
fails to find the reason behind all.
How will he give rain?
How will he sustain our breathing?
He comes to know that man is experimenting on-
' Artificial rain'.
He comes to know that man is already selling-
'Artificial oxygen'
How foolish he thinks-
When somthing is available naturally-
why should anybody produce it artificially.
The lord god who made this all
fails to find the reason behind this all.

What would he do now?
Would he work 'overtime' to give us rain - or
Would he just make the mankind stationary- and
Create another species altogether.
what would he do now?

God made man to dominate over the earth, but man abused this God given power.

A great poem Samanyan. When will man realise that destroying nature for his own ends he inevitably destroys himself. Glenn

I like this poem. The idea that our positions deserve to be reversed is an imaginative one (or does it have an origin in Tamil culture? I also like the rhythmic converstional tone of most of your work, and the fact that you write also in Tamil (though I cannot read those poems of course) .
