If the horse has been dead for 10 years- Dismount
.
So I'm dismounting this poor dead horse at last
He just isn't going anywhere
His name is The Past,
And I find I cannot change the past
So ultimately his name is Failure.
.
If the horse has been dead for 10 years- Dismount
.
So I'm dismounting this poor dead horse too
He just never looks up
His name is Misery
And we rode the trails together for far too many years
And ultimately his name too is Failure.
.
If the horse has been dead for 10 years- Dismount
.
And I'm dismounting this poor dead horse as well
He just never gave an inch
His name is Unforgiveness
And we spent an empty unhappy life together
And ultimately his name too is Failure.
.
If the horse has been dead for 10 years- Dismount
.
And now I'm mounting another horse
And I'm going to ride this steed into the battle of life
The name of my new horse is Forgiveness
And we will find peace at long last
And ultimately his name is Love.
.
If all your horses have been dead for 10 years- Dismount
.
I do call upon each and everyone of you
to mount your prayer horses and join me
in lifting our fallen lives up to God
Let's ask for a miracle
Because these dead horses cannot be mended by any human hands
If our lives are to be restored into God's family,
it can only be by the miraculous power of God at work.
Not by riding dead horses.

Really thought provoking...and that dead horse, we usually find ourselves 'beating it.' Riding suggests some optimism or faith, albeit, as you suggest, very misplaced. When forced with a reality of having to change, it is fascinating how that horse represents the duality of our flawed nature...that stands in our way before we must change. A perfect 10!
We know that the dead past like a dead horse should be dismounted....! There is no point in trying to mount on a dead horse....! It cannot take you anywhere. The horses of unforgiveness also should never be mounted.
It's a value laden piece with an inbuilt message. I love this fabulous poem.
His name is the past.... the substantial aspect of this wonderful write. Top score and to my favourite.
Suresh Kumar, sometimes yes, sometimes no, poetry gets to break the rules in favor of presenting ideas and images and sometimes even murders the poor grammar lady

I would like to translate this poem
In the same way the horses of hatred, jealousy and unforgiveness have to be discarded. Instead, mount on the horse of love. It will take one nearer to God and one will become stronger and rejuvenated, capable of working wonders! This poem leaves a deep impact as the analogies are taken from the poet's own equestrian experience. A sure 10
I am glad you enjoyed the ride! thank you for the 10!
