A Simple Poem About The Pale Moon

A Simple Poem About The Pale Moon
translated from the Dutch language by Sylvia Frances Chan

oh, pale moon
why do you look at me like that?
you don't look, but you stare at me
you still seem so absentminded
and so unhealthy
I'm not used to you like this

you always sparkle
all those evenings
so cozy always
I had a lot of fun
that's my fun at that time
but now? !
Look, you've gotten smaller
Last month you were a big dot
and then we really had fun

oh, pale moon
please smile again at me
and not all the time looking so unhealthy
like you do tonight
I'm not used to you

Please, sparkle, even a tiny bit
Then my spot
is lighted again,
I am happy that you've become the greatest dot.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Awaiting full moon in these next hours, greatest luck that it will not rain in these few hours
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

As I go through with the whole poem, it seems the moon is at close range seeing its many phases. Loved how you described the moon, my friend. There is that pure innocence.

The beauty and magical appeal of the moon is wonderfully woven in this lovely poem. So nicely crafted and expressed.
